Macon Man Returns Home to Great Job after High-End Education in Auto Industry

Leon Tarver is BMW of Macon’s newest master service technician. He’ll earn at least $55,000 a year and could one day advance into auto design or become a field service technician, traveling the country to help stumped mechanics. During his senior year, he landed a full $21,000 scholarship to Nashville Auto-Diesel College. A year later, BMW of Macon paid the $11,000 tuition to send him to Orlando, Fla., for a program to specialize in servicing the high-end cars. Read his story from the Macon Telegraph.

Young, Black and Gifted - Lil Champs @ PS 89Q

he Lil Champs are a group of third, fourth, and fifth graders in Elmhurst, New York City. They are members of the LATCH After-School Program, which is supported by the Child Guidance Center of New York. The Lil Champs CD is a mix of hip-hop and R&B with songs ranging from a tribute to Black History to a humorous remix of traditional holiday songs. Listen to their rhymes.
