Young, Gifted and Black - New York Woman Shows Committment to Causes

Before Shadè Ogunleye stepped onto Columbia University’s campus to begin her freshman year last fall, the native Californian hadn’t given much thought to AIDS.
Then, she met her roomate who lost both of her parents to the virus. When she was crowned Miss Black New York 2006 in April, Ogunleye accepted the title championing AIDS awareness as her official platform.
